Potential new ferry routes: Weigh in on the future of intracounty ferry service
M/V Solano and M/V Waterman pass each other in Sinclair Inlet.
Kitsap Transit is studying new ferry routes within Kitsap County, and we want your feedback!
In April, Kitsap Transit received $300,000 to study the feasibility of new intracounty passenger-only ferry routes (routes that operate within Kitsap County, like our Port Orchard to Bremerton route).
So far, we’ve identified three potential routes to be evaluated in the study:
Bremerton to Silverdale
Bremerton to Manchester
Bremerton to Bainbridge Island
We’re looking for feedback from the public and will identify up to two (2) additional routes based on your engagement, comments received during our Long-Range Transit Plan (2022) process, potential demand, and a review of routing opportunities and constraints.
You can help us by filling out our intracounty passenger-only ferry survey here. The survey will close at Noon on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
Public outreach is just the first step in the study process. Consultants will look at several landing site locations and routing opportunities and evaluate them based on potential demand, multimodal access, water depth, and available space for vessel programming and land use compatibility.
The next step will be to review the possible site alternatives and outline risks and operational considerations for each proposed route, including terminal facilities, vessels, operations, and financial considerations.
