Help KT test our new “text for arrivals” system
If you’re wondering where your bus is, wouldn’t it be nice to get an expected time of arrival (ETA)?
Now you can. Kitsap Transit is testing a new system called Service Bot that will text riders back the ETAs of the next three buses arriving. Join our beta testers group and take a quick survey!
Here’s how it works: Find your bus stop’s code by clicking on it in our trip planner, KTTracker.com, and texting that code to (360) 800-3433. (Note: Message and data rates may apply — check with your wireless carrier if you have questions.)
If you’re waiting for a bus at one of our transit centers, here are the stop codes for each one:
Bremerton Transportation Center: 1
Bainbridge Island Ferry Terminal: 861
Wheaton Way Transit Center: 1324
West Bremerton Transfer Center: 353
Silverdale Transit Center: 1420
North Viking Transit Center: 1066
Kingston Ferry Terminal: 1309
Port Orchard Ferry Dock: 1248
Southworth Ferry Parking Lot: 1321
If you want to look up the stop code of your nearest bus stop in Kitsap County, visit KTTracker.com and hover over any bus stop.
Enter the stop code 300 shown above when texting Kitsap Transit’s “Service Bot” for next bus arrivals at this stop.
For instance, when hovering over a stop on Fairgrounds Road in Central Kitsap, a small box pops up showing, “300: Fairgrounds at Falcon.” The stop code is 300. To find ETAs for buses arriving within 30 minutes, you’d text “300” to (360) 800-3433. Stop codes are also available through Google Maps (screenshot right).
Texting for next bus arrival isn’t a new concept. It’s a feature available in Seattle and other areas, and we’re happy to be making it available for Kitsap Transit’s customers. Some riders may find texting far easier than using a web browser.
Text for arrivals is one of several rider information improvements we’re working on. Kitsap Transit has provided the real-time data feed to both Google and Apple to share in their apps. If you do not see the real-time data feed in your Google or Apple app, these companies may not have begun pushing this data to users yet.
We’d love to hear your feedback on the texting application and the proposed signage that will be installed at every bus stop. You can provide your feedback by taking a short survey.
