Temporary state-funded Bremerton Fast Ferry sailings will end after Aug. 31, 2026

In December 2022, Kitsap Transit added seven round-trip sailings per day on its Bremerton Fast Ferry route to help offset service cut by Washington State Ferries (WSF) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Kitsap Transit will stop operating these extra sailings after Aug. 31, 2026, when state funding for them ends.
After Aug. 31, these sailings will no longer operate:
From Bremerton: 8:35 AM, 9:15 AM, 9:50 AM, 10:25 AM, 6:20 PM, 7:40 PM, 9:00 PM
From Seattle: 9:10 AM, 9:50 AM, 10:25 AM, 11:00 AM, 7:00 PM, 8:20 PM, 9:40 PM

Why are the extra sailings going away?
The additional sailings were funded by Washington State and were never intended to be permanent additions to the Bremerton Fast Ferry schedule.
In September 2021, WSF reduced its two-boat service on the Seattle-Bremerton route to one as it struggled with crew shortages. In response to calls from local elected officials and the public, Kitsap Transit temporarily expanded its Bremerton-Seattle Fast Ferry service to fill these gaps in WSF’s schedule.
Kitsap Transit received $2.9 million in July 2025 to continue operating the extra Bremerton Fast Ferry sailings through August 2026 to support mobility in the region during the FIFA World Cup matches in Seattle. Kitsap Transit will stop operating the extra sailings when funding ends on Aug. 31.
Because Kitsap Transit will be operating fewer sailings, vessels may be more crowded than usual. Riders are encouraged to arrive early for their intended departure. Spot saving is not allowed.
What about Saturday sailings?
Kitsap Transit will continue operating Saturday sailings from May through September as part of our regular summer schedule. This year, Saturday sailings will run through Sept. 26.
