  • Routed Drivers

    With a flexible working schedule, Routed Operators drive for our transit service on a fixed route serving the general public in Kitsap County. They provide a valuable and essential service to our community.

    Salary (as of Feb. 16, 2023): $25.13/hour.

    Make $33.69/hour at the seventh year of employment. Top rate: $36.38/hour.

  • ACCESS Drivers

    ACCESS Operators provide door-to-door or curb-to-curb transit service to eligible elderly passengers and persons with disabilities. They provide a valuable and essential service to our community.

    Salary (as of Feb. 16, 2023): $23.68/hour.

    Make $32.21/hour at the seventh year of employment. Top rate: $34.79/hour.

  • Minimum Qualifications

    Must be at least 20 years old at the time of hire

    High school diploma or GED

    Valid WA State Driver’s License

    Obtain and maintain a CDL

    Pass pre-employment drug test and criminal background check

  • Benefits

    Annual increases per the labor contract: 3% wage increase in 2021, 4.5% increase in 2022 and 4.25% increase in 2023. A 20-cents-per-hour wage adjustment for ACCESS operators effective Feb. 16, 2023.

    *Recruitment incentive of up to $7,000 paid in three installments upon reaching specific milestones:

    - $1,500 after obtaining Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) permit and medical examiner’s certificate. New hires that are already fully licensed will receive $2,000 after completing their second week of training.

    - $2,000 after completing 80 hours of solo driving (driving without direct supervision).

    - $3,000 after completing 2080 hours of solo driving

    Longevity step increases at 15 years of employment (2% above current rate), 20 years, (4% above) and 25 years (8% above).

    Medical, Dental and Vision: Full-time employees and their dependents receive medical benefits through Kaiser Permanente or Blue Cross.

    Transit privileges on fixed route and Kitsap Fast Ferries.

    Retirement (pension): Kitsap Transit participates in the Washington State Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).

    Vacation/Sick (PTO) Pay: Full-time drivers earn 22 days of leave a year, pro-rated accrual based on hours worked.

    Holiday Pay: Full-time drivers receive nine paid scheduled holidays, plus two floating days.
