Take a tour of the burgeoning electric vehicle market this Saturday at the Kitsap Electric Vehicle and Bike Expo!

Public interest in electric vehicles is growing alongside the industry:

  • In our 2021 survey of Bainbridge Islanders, 10% reported their household had an electric car and 14% had an electric bike.

  • In our 2022 Long-Range Transit Plan (LRTP) survey of Kitsap County, 11% of respondents with a car reported they had an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle.

  • Nearly one-quarter of LRTP survey respondents said “I would ride more often” when asked how a transition from diesel to electric vehicles would impact their usage of Kitsap Transit.

Kitsap Transit is a big proponent of sustainable transportation options – it’s why we’re planning to have 30 battery-electric buses in our fleet by the end of 2025. The expo is a great chance to get hands-on experience with new electric cars and bikes while enjoying live music and great food.

The program will feature presentations from the City of Bainbridge Island’s Climate Mitigation & Adaptation Officer, BI Cycle and the Seattle Electric Vehicle Association, plus a chance to talk with electric vehicle dealers, owners and e-bike owners.

Stop by Kitsap Transit’s booth and take a tour of one of our brand-new battery-electric buses! Our staff will be on hand to answer questions about our growing zero-emission fleet. Attendees will also have a chance to learn about why Kitsap Transit is pursuing funding for a potential hydrogen production facility and fuel-cell buses.

The expo runs from 10:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, at Woodward Middle School on Bainbridge Island. For more information, visit the expo’s event page or contact kitsapevfair@gmail.com.

The Kitsap Electric Vehicle and Bike Expo is sponsored by Puget Sound Energy, Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island, Sustainable Bainbridge, Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce, City of Bainbridge Island, and BI Cycle.
