Headways Newsletter: December 2023

Welcome back to Headways!

For this final newsletter of 2023, we’re getting reflective. The final feature of our 40th anniversary series caps off a yearlong look into our past, and how we’re preparing for the future. We’ve also put together the top KT stories of the year, for all you list-lovers out there. Finally, we’re looking for public feedback on a proposed ferry maintenance facility. You can check out the Storymap and take a quick survey below.

Thanks so much for reading and supporting us this year. See you in 2024!

Transit today and tomorrow: the 2010s and the future of KT

The final feature in our 40th Anniversary series examines the last 10 years of Kitsap Transit and how we’re moving forward toward the future.

Our top Kitsap Transit stories of 2023

Year-end lists are arbitrary, of course, but we think we had a pretty good year. Check out the top Kitsap Transit stories of 2023.

Get involved! Kitsap Transit’s vision for a new ferry maintenance facility

We want to hear from you! Kitsap Transit is looking into establishing a dedicated ferry maintenance facility for routine maintenance tasks. We have developed an interactive StoryMap to provide a project overview, summary of current sites being considered and information about the next steps in this process.

After reviewing the StoryMap, take our short survey! Feedback will be used to inform the next steps in the process.

Teaching transit

Last month, our Customer Service Team dropped by South Colby Elementary to talk with the third-grade class about public transit!

Kristan and Michael walked the students through our transit coloring book and answered some great questions about riding Kitsap Transit buses and ferries and how to get a free youth ORCA card.

Anyone 18 and younger can ride KT for free! Visit https://info.myorca.com/youth-ride-free/ for more info.

Celebrating 40 years of Kitsap Transit

We’ve reached the end of 2023, which means the end of our 40th Anniversary celebration. Catch up on all the content we published this year, including a feature story about each decade of Kitsap Transit’s history and an interactive timeline.
